What to wear

Back from Phoenix - - so after two shopping excursions and the purchase of two new dresses, two tops and a pair of pants, what did I wear? Something from my closet!!!

A Model & a Speaker

I guess they like me, they really like me . .. . . I am going to speak at a sales meeting for representatives of the pharmaceutical company. Kind of put a human face on people who are taking the drug they manufacture. Of course, this requires a shopping excursion - have to find something to wear to Phoenix in December.

Once again, fun and frightening at the same time.

A model?

Imagine . . .. . get sick, become a model. Well, not really a model, just a face on a website. One of the drugs I take is celebrating their 10th year of helping people with PD. And yes, it is definitely a help. Without my PD drugs, I can barely move. When I take my drugs and am "on", I can dance. A substantial difference!!

People are coming from Boston to take my picture for a website which celebrates people with PD who are taking this drug. I'm a little nervous. Me, the subject of a photo shoot??? That's kind of weird!!

I'm not overly fond of the whole pharmaceutical business - but at the same time, I am totally appreciative of being able to live a fairly normal life. What if they hadn't invested the time, dollars, etc. to develop the drugs I take. On the other hand, is it possible they know of a way to cure the disease but don't do it because there is too much money in the current drugs? and there is huge money in the current drugs!!!

Am I selling out? I don't know. All these questions . . .. .

Sometimes There are Blessings

OK, so I have to admit there are occasional blessings that come as a result of this illness. What are they? Quite simply, the people I meet. There's Terry in South Carolina, Bunny in Colorado - these are two very wonderful ladies I've met over the internet.

So many opportunities have opened up for me - such as speaking at the Rotary Club meeting (through which I met another lovely lady, Tami).

The ladies who model for me bless me SOOOOOO much. Many of them I didn't know before they became my models, Nikki, Kate, Jen. The ladies I knew before being my models have become even more dear, Susan, Kay, Gayle, - my beautiful and sweet nieces, Joann, Tessie & Angie. My sister Sue, who is simply the best!

Truthfully, it is hard to imagine my life would be as full or rich if I had never had PD

Dinner

We had dinner with four of the nicest people last night. All in their 20s, they are delightful to be with; smart, funny and accomplished. Wow! I wish I would have had my act together like they do when I was that age!! Their generation is often put down as being very selfish and inwardly focused - but these "kids" are not that way in the least!

I am very much hoping that Ben will be on our Board of Directors - he will bring new life and energy to our group!

Even more pictures

Here I am in a 1930s dress & hat getting ready to do the commentary for another fashion show.

More Pictures and more posts

I tried to put all the pictures on one post and ended up with a mumbled, jumbled mess. Hence, the separate posts. Here are two of our very special sister models.

More Pictures

Cheryl is our "gracious lady" in a classic navy blue dress and jacket

more pictures

Jen is wearing a dress which was called a Hooverette in the 1935 Sears catalog. Presumably, it was called that because one wore this dress while using their Hoover vacuum. Anyone have any other ideas?

Malgosia looks as delighted as she is delightful. Her wonderful husband took these GREAT pictures.

Models

I am so proud of the beautiful ladies that model for my fashion shows. Now, without a doubt, no more than one or two of us fit the traditional model mold. After all, our average age is 30+. Almost all of us have kids, some even have grandkids .

But a more beautiful, committed, lovely, sweet & kind group of ladies you won't find anywhere!! Each time they come out and "play dress-up" with me, I have so much fun!!! They are hams, and shrinking violets, tall and short, in their 20s, 30s, 40s & 50s, (and we even have some single digit little ladies that model for us on occasion) Some are narrow and some wider than they would choose (but who isn't wider than they would choose??).

The two things they have in common is a desire to see this disease take a hike and the fact that they love me. It is an incredibly awesome experience to be the recipient of such love. I don't deserve it - - but I do revel in it.

What a gift their friendship is - - I can never thank them enough!!

Remembering Password

Perhaps the most important thing in creating a blog is remembering the password so that you can add to it. One would think this is a no-brainer - but something I have a bit of difficulty with.

They tell me I need a different password for everything - - but how many passwords can one little peabrain remember???

Fashion shows

Back from vacation - time to get to work. Fashion shows planned for September 18 and October 11. I don't have the stuff from the last show put away!!! AHHHHHHHH! So many details - what goes with what, who wears what size shoes, etc.

While in Seaside, I found some beautiful emerald green rhinestone jewelry - necklace & earrings - for the emerald green 50's dress I have. Bought them in two different places - but they look enough alike that you might think they were a set.
